This intensive Yoga Teacher Training course is covering the practice and understanding of the Vinyasa Yoga.
The word Vinyasa is derived from the sanskrit root. Vi means “in a special way“, Nyasa “to place“.
It is known as “modern” yoga as it is inspired from the Ashtanga Yoga Vinyasa practice, series designed by Sri Pattabhi Jois and still taught in Mysore by Sharat Jois. The difference with the Vinyasa Yoga is that there is no series to follow, each module is created as per the desire of the teacher. Each movement is coordinated with the breathing, all movements are linked with the inhalation and exhalation.
The sequence will vary, wether with a special thematic such as hips opener and backbend or just following a logical pattern of natural movement with a progression.
During our teacher training course you will learn how to design your own module, you will have the freedom to teach it and to explore it.
There will be three modules already prepared included in the student manual. Each week one module will be taught. Our desire is to bring the student toward an autonomous practice, therefore from second week students will be required to practice on their own in order to assimilate the breathing, the movement, the connection, the placement by and with their own capacity. Only the practice can teach you how to teach, there is no teaching when there is no practice.
Once a movement become body integrated, it is easier to translate it to others. The path of the breathing is crossing our energy channels and then the practice becomes more organic and less systematic.
This intensive yoga teacher training course should not be considered as a yoga Retreat. A regular practice is highly recommended before the course start.
As per Patanjali, Pranayama is the stop of the breathing. Therefore all exercices that we are doing and practicing are preparing us to the practice of pranayamas. Pranayamas will be taught daily. They bring our body and mind to a better concentration and understanding of our innerself.
Bandhas are practiced once the pranayamas are rasterised. Hence everything that we are doing is a preparation toward the Bandhas. The simple fact of contracting the perineum does activate the Mula Bandha but it is not Mula Bandha as described in the Hatha Yoga Pradeepika, it is the preparation. We will discuss and practice the 4 main Bandhas. Please note that the real practice of Bandhas has to be done from a higher level and can not be accomplished during a one month yoga teacher training course.
Once Pranayamas is controlled, Bandhas are activated then Chakras started opening. We can feel “something” but once again there won’t be any chakras opening during this intensive course. It takes a lot of experience and practice, we can not open our chakras in one month. However we will learn and discover where are the chakras.
An intensive yoga teacher training course will give you the keys toward a deep yoga practice and bring some knowledge, but please note it won’t be enough for you to understand the full complexity of Yoga. We can not become a yoga teacher in one month, it takes a life. However we will give you all the keys for you to be able to teach asanas and pranayamas.
From the second day of the course, students will start teaching asana. Asanas are the door to the vast field of Yoga. Yoga has to be treated with respect and understanding.
There is not universal adjustment. We are all different, therefore the asana need to be adapted to the capacity of everyone. All asana will be seen in detail during the all course, we will teach you how to adjust them as per the body in front of you, where to place your hands and your breathing.
How to teach
Before teaching a practice should be established. It is impossible to teach something that we don’t know of even haven’t tried. Therefore we required all students to have a regular asana practice before attending the course.
Even thought it is not mandatory to learn all asana name in Sanskrit, that is how we teach them. All asana will be taught with their own etymology, and translation.
We will teach you the base of yoga philosophy and how to apply it into our daily life from an occidental point of view. The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali will be seen, and other yogic lecture.
Yoga Thai Massage & Anatomy
There will be practice of the Yoga Thai Massage in order to understand how to touch and how to feel a muscle. The Yoga Thai Massage will be taught in order to understand the anatomy of the body as well.
This yoga teacher training course is for everyone who want to deepen their yoga practice for a better understanding. However a regular practice is highly recommend, such as 4 to 5 times per week at least 6 months minimum before the course starts.
